As the Head of Design, I led the end-to-end design process, from initial research and ideation to prototyping, testing, and launching the app. I utilized AI-driven tools like Midjourney to refine category visuals and ChatGPT for ideation and user flow optimization, focusing on enhancing user experience and brand engagement.
Overview.
The ngl app by Moojo redefines how users engage with cashback and rewards by offering a highly personalized, privacy-focused experience. Built on the Moojo™ protocol, ngl enables users to earn rewards while maintaining control over their data, all within a seamless user experience.
Goals.

Provide users with a straightforward way to earn and redeem cashback across various categories (groceries, tech, lifestyle) while safeguarding their data.

Research.
Our research included competitor analysis, user interviews, and iterative testing, organized on a digital whiteboard. This helped us pinpoint user needs, particularly around ease of use and data privacy, and ensured our design choices aligned with both user expectations and brand objectives.

Using Animal Characters for Personas generated with Midjourney.
Using Animal Characters for Personas In designing the ngl Cashback & Rewards app, we opted for animal characters over traditional human personas for our group categories. This choice achieved several goals:
Inclusivity and Neutrality.
Animal characters avoid biases related to gender, age, or ethnicity, ensuring all users feel represented without stereotypes.
Enhanced Engagement.
After testing multiple iterations on Midjourney to find the right character style, we gathered user feedback. Users loved the concept, noting that it made them smile and helped them relate to each persona, adding warmth and personality to the app.
Intuitive Visual Cues.
Each animal embodies traits associated with specific shopping categories (e.g., cheetah for fitness), helping users intuitively connect with their preferred categories.
Brand Differentiation.
The playful animal personas set ngl apart in a crowded market, creating a distinctive, memorable identity.
App Launch Overview.
The ngl Cashback & Rewards app launched on both the Apple App Store and Google Play with a 5.0-star rating, praised for blending high cashback with strong data privacy. Featuring 3,500+ offers and up to 20% cashback.
